The LED is only allowing current to go one way as it's a diode.
A normal globe will allow the current to go back to the alternator to get the exciter going. You're managing to get it going with revs ...

Sort the speedo calibration after you've finished everything else:
You might find you want a higher diff ratio after an engine rebuild/replacement and a change in tyre size will also affect the speed ...

You should have 2 lights behind the 'waterfall' grille, one for high beam (usually red), the other to illuminate the ignition key (green).
From new, there was only one switch under the dash, for the ...

SNT 6211/12S is a MPH speedo from a Triumph/MG (claimed). Maybe the 13S designation is for the KPH version.

**There's a 13S face on eBay:

I'm not sure the commercials ever had trafficators fitted from the factory. I know the 1000s had a control box to activate the brake lights as indicators at the same time the sedans were still using t ...

The alternator exciter circuit needs a 12v feed for it to kick in. You'll find it will self excite if you give the engine a rev.
The LED is a diode which only allows current to flow one way, in your ...

Just use it as a junction box like how the later regulators are done.
It just looks complicated due to the fuses built in but the main alternator wiring bypasses that part anyway then you can just u ...

Trafficators would originally have been fitted low on the 2 door/convertibles. If there's no aperture behind the door, and you're not planning on fitting them, go for the later wiring loom.
I think ...

'1504' is from a 1000 traveller.

Wouldn't your car be a '56 if it had an 803cc and a central speedo?Series II with the centre speedo was released in late '54. The 1000 came about in late '56.
99% of late SIIs here are '55/'56.
