ahh the joys of setting up a new engine...
after getting everything else right, it seems I have a fuel supply prob... the bowls are just running out before the pump can refill...
the mechanical pump has had the kit put through it, and does require a spacer... after testing against an electric pump last nite, its either something up the NEW main line, or something in the tank!~ the tank is a worry considering if the blockage is in the pick up...
has anyone has experience in clearing the tank pick up?

With the cap removed, it should blow back freely by mouth.
Failing that, try a bit of compressed air.
I've only ever removed the pick up filter when I've cut tanks open. I can't imagine they were designed to be removed.
As a last resort, you might be able to prise it off the pick up line & run a filter near the fuel tank.

I second Scott's idea, I used a rag around an airline and a quick shot of compressed air to pressurise the tank and get the fuel through after my rebuild

Have you taken the fuel pipe off at the tank & tried blowing though with an air gun from there ? Check the fuel line too & make sure nothing could become squashed when doing up the pipe fittings.
The pick up in the tank isn't that long. You could probe it with a bit of wire & loosen up what ever is blocking it. If it's that bad though, I'd say the rest of the tank internals would probably be as bad.
