Fitting a Celica 5 speed to the datto in my LCV. Can anyone tell me if I can use the original speedo and if so, what I need to do or if there is another suitable speedo I can use.

No matter what Speedo you use with the gearbox you will need to have it re-calibrated.
Connecting it to the five speed will require some sort of adaptor.
Remove speedo cable from speedo head
Mark one side of square end on cable
Mark out 20 meters on road
Drive slowly and count number of turns of speedo cable ( white paint on one side helps)
Give this info ( no of turns per 20 meters) to Instrument Shop of choice and they can accurately calibrate it.
I used M.I.R. ( Manly instrument repairs) but there are others.

VDO can supply an electronic speedo 0 - 200 kph approx 80mm dia with trip meter/total distance. You will also require a sender unit that simply attaches to your existing Toyota g/box speedo drive where the cable attached. Three wires run from the sender to speedo.
Wiring diagram etc all supplied.
You calibrate the speedo by either travelling at a known speed or a measured distance of 1 km.
Unsure of current cost but around $350 - not much more than a speeding fine.
Used these for a number of years on Datsun box with out any issues.
Believe you can also add the speed alert system to this set up.
