Hi, I joined this forum a couple of weeks ago. Just got the time to sit down and introduce myself. I live in Perth and have recently bought a 1961 Morris minor. I paid $1650 for it, it has 120y running gear, brakes and some of the interior is from the 120y too I think.
In the first week I got it I lowered the front, then the next week I fitted tele-shocks, for both of these things I viewed previous postings on this forum to help me, the shock conversion I sort of did my own thing, but got some ideas from this forum, then lost week the morrie got new braided brake lines, new lucas brake pads, brake fluid flush and new dot4 plus fluid. It is now a great daily runner.
I have also bought an eaton supercharger off ebay for $330 I am going to engineer that for the 1200 motor, but that is something for the future as a am also working on an MG midget, that is off the road and undergoing a complete restore (I will do a restore on the morrie after I have finished with the Midget). Not sure yet whether to put the blower on the morrie or the midget, might buy another one and have one on both!
Anyway here are some pics
This is a braket that bolts on the lower split arm for the shocks, I welded a plate inside the guards for the top of the shocks, might post some more pics of this tomorrow!

Yes Scott the midget is nearly ready to paint - well hopefully within a few weeks. But then it will be months refurbishing everything and putting it together, and the engine will need an overhaul as well.
I just had a look - they are chromed steel strips, I am guessing from the response that they don't normally have this?

No I bought it out of the local trading post (quokka) It had some problems with the brakes and suspension and I don't think the guy knew how easy it was to fix. There is some rust bubbling up in different places, but it is not too bad, so yeah I think I got it for a good price.
Regarding joining the Morris club here in WA - I don't mind going on some runs and stuff, but at the moment I really don't have time to commit to a club, I have this midget on the boil, but I don't mind joining a registry but I am not sure how many event I could get to.
Now these strips here are some other pics
They look like they were made for the vehicle, I see no signs of fabrication, not sure where they came from - might look into it

we had a look at a couple of weeks ago it needs some rust done under it
you can join the club you will get a newsletter each month you don't have to come to every event or meetings

Yes there is some work to be done particularly at the rear of the front wheel arches underneath, I will start on that after the midget. Steel work is not so hard for me as a boilermaker I have access to full workshop with guillotine, bender, rollers etc. so I was not that worried about the underneath as long as it was not major structural.

Also have you put it over the pits with modifications?
I had a similar idea in mind but not sure about legality.

No its not going over the pits for the shock conversion, but it will have to when I put the blower on it - at least that is how I understand it!

somehow this one never got posted... I meant to say that the chrome strips or a very near facsimile are available from your local parts place. I have seen them before they stick on. you buy it by the metre.
