G'day

I had the front lifted today, lifted it by two splines around 2 inches. The car sits flat now with a bit more suspension travel giving a better ride.

G'day

I have a new steering wheel, a real one this time, Grant Banjo 14.75"
with 3.5" dish, leather covered. It feels really good and I think suits the car.

Hi Graham

That looks really good, you should be happy with that now. Are you going to fit a MORRIS horn button or leave the Grant one. Either way, it looks a treat.

What are you planning to do next

Darren

G'day

If I can find a suitable Morris badge I will cover the Grant on the horn button but I am not in a hurry.
Next week I am taking the trailer indicators off the front and rewiring the head lights to incorporate the parkers and make the old parkers the indicators.
After that I am getting the windows tinted, to keep out the summer heat and help the air con.

Cheers

I vote for keeping the Grant !!!, I have done the parkers in the headlights and made the old parkers my indicators, I couldn't find an orange bulb to fit so painted my with bright yellow model paint, several years on still going strong, I chose yellow because it is more see through than the orange and actually looks orange in the day and is bright at night

That is the way I have wired Cecil.

I have Amber globes fitted to where the parkers were. The only problem is, the pins on the amber globes are not 180deg from each other. Painting the globes is one option or as I did, I just ground one of the pins off.

with the headlamps, have you got Halogen headlamps yet. I have actually got domed halogen headlamps which look quite good. They make it look like you have you have the original in there. When you put the parkers in the headlamps, get some blue ones! the colour of them is closer to the halogen headlamps than the clear ones. The clear ones just look like orange candles in comparison IMO.

Cheers

G'day

I went up to Melbourne and back yesterday, it was the first time I had a chance to do a reasonable check on fuel consumption. 224 km for 21.8 lt
of fuel works out at about 9.5lt/100 or just under 30mpg.
Travel was mainly freeway driving although I passed through Geelong twice and had the normal crawl over the west gate going into Melbourne
then some city driving and I had the air con on most of the time.
So I am fairly happy with that, it is about what I was hoping for, it would give a comfortable 250km range on the highway which is ok.

Cheers

Hi

If you find that you would like more range you could fit the Corolla tank like I have. I travelled from Melbourne to Canberra on 3/4 tank. I can also get from Canberra to Sydney and back return on one tank which is so convenient. That is not being careful either sitting on between 110 and 120 kph.

G'day

I thought about a bigger tank and may well do so again as the car gets used. But at present I prefer not loosing boot space particularly the fold down back seat. I am sure that my outboard, esky etc will fit in the back when I go sailing, I will find out next dry season.
200 to 250 between stops is not too bad, it covers most gaps between hear and home, probably carry a 10lt jerry in case of head winds.

Cheers

G'day

I had the windows tinted today. I think it looks good and will help with keeping the car cooler and the UV out.

We always have a room free if required, although you will probably go through charters

Thank you Grant, no route plans at this time, it will depend to some extent on what sort of wet you get in FNQ, what roads are open.

G'day Darren

New headlights (halogen) incorporating the parkers, old parkers are now indicators.
All I still have to do is make them amber.

On the subject of amber parking lights.
This is how I set mine up, could not buy amber globes to fit.
I simply bought the strongest globe that would fit and painted it with glass stain.
I bought mine at the " Spotlight " chain of stores but any craft shop should have it. Yellow Sedan Blue Ute
