Hey Bruce.
When I built the ute We were talking about the idea of a Fifth Wheel and it came up that in Qld if the ball is over the diff center or before the diff you need a semi licence .
Articulated Truck ???
so built a ute and kept the TD.
What do your rules state?

In Canberra and most states it looks like the issue is with the weight of the trailer = GVM of over 9 tonne.
I would talk to a few companies who sell 5th wheel caravans and/or horse floats to see what they say.

Not a worry as I said went with the Ute and kept the TD (Teardrop camper)

Meanwhile keep it up I LOVE IT.

Love the look of your ute! haven't seen to many major modified morris's. How did you find fitting the stereo?? i am putting a full active system in mine and by the looks of it I have some work ahead of me haha
great job on the chop too, how much did you end up taking out?

Roof has been whacked 100 mm.
Stereo install is always fun, just take your time in setting it all up.
for the full story on the build go to

I hope to get back working on Clockwork in the next few weeks.

I am thinking of putting my morris on bags. Being a ute means that I am well within legal rights to do it. Have you put any cars on bags before? if you have, what are some of the things that you think I should be looking at before I commence with this mod?

If you want to go bags look at putting Holden Gemini front and rear ends under your Morrie. Rear would need to be a 4 bar set up and the front has room for the bags. For bags to look the best you would need to look at channeling the Ute or setting the suspension up high so when you drop the car it will be on the ground.
BUT contact your local rego approved engineer before spending the cash.
Trust me you will save a lot of time and money by getting advice first.

Thanks Graham
I hope to get the grill bars mounted to the grill shell this weekend then I can get it all back on the Ute, It will mean a few less things laying around, plus it set the front up so I can finish getting the guards and bonnet fitting properly, and as the radiator will be bolted in I can also start the engine again which hasn't been run for about 4 months

Long time no post, so time for a quick update, for months I have not liked the look of the rear guards on the tray, so after doing some searching I have found a set of guards with more of a radius on the edge which will make the rear look lower and go back to the look of the old wide guards I had to take off. I have also had issues with the paint I put on the sheet steel on the tray, it didn't stick, so that has now been fixed also. So I hope with the new guards I will get my mojo back and get Clockwork finished before Easter 2013.
I will have some photos to post up soon.
