Hi Fellow Morris Minor Owners
I am new to the Morris Minor scene, my family and I have just purchased a 1955 SII 4 door Minor. Spent 10 years in a shed. Pretty good condition only a couple of rusty spots to fix so far, needs front chassis leg as its cracked, may replace both as the other is dented and bashed. Fitted with the 950 motor, Healey Sprite gearbox, vh44 booster, Morris Major 9" front brakes, telescopic shocks front end, interior seats have been trimmed. all in all happy with the purchase! It was a daily driver prior to its decades rest, hence the modifications, but it all makes it a practical classic.
Engine runs sweet, managed to get it running quite easily, using jump leads the starter wouldnt turn (not enough charge), so a bit of fuel in the carby, a few spins with the crank handle and it fired up!
Cheers
Paul

Hey G'day and welcome.
Nice looking vehicle there, keep us all posted as you go and don't forget to ask if you have any questions and can't find it on MDU. Someone will have an answer for you, for sure!
Cheers,
David

Hi Frosty
Jig attachs to the front top door hinge mount, with the weight of the doors that the mount holds, holding the body is easy, when i fit everything back up though I will have the body in the upright position and loosen the bolts at that hinge mount so it has no weight on it. Just in case the roll frame is stressing the piller.
Easy to roll, though next time i might make more of an easier curve.
Shed is a mess now as I have finally put power to it ( Last long weekend it took 3 whole days on the excavator to dig the 50 metre trench and lay the cable! (lots of shale and rock 4 metres from the shed! but now it is in and working!!
Only serious rust i have found is both A pillars as per picture and the front chassis rails need replacing. Not bad for a 61 year old car!

Stitch in a brace between the pillars with some 25mm square tub
And when you fix the A pillar rust leave a few holes at the bottom to let any water drain and fill them with a good fish oil or tar sealer.
I would get some rust converter in there as well before the fish oil
