Simple method

This version is better than the simple version, but is slightly more involved

If you haven't done so already, I strongly recommend that you first view the video showing the simple version:

After leaving my lights on and having a flat battery I installed a buzzer years ago.
My method was an N/C relay fitted with the coil in it driven by the ignition wire, then a cable from the on side of the headlight switch goes through relay to buzzer.
Turn lights on buzzer goes on, turn ignition on it stops so you cannot have lights on without engine running.
