Has anyone mucked around with fitting a Hitachi breakerless dizzy from an N12 Pulsar? I'd be interested to here anyone else's experiences relating this to a Minor.
I've had a go at it today and initial results are looking pretty good.
I used instructions from here:

...and they worked perfectly!

I fitted one from an 84 pulsar, not sure if thats an N12.
I changed the bottom gear to an A series (dato) one, turned the dizzy 180deg out so the vacum advance missed the block, (retimed leads) & fitted a holden red motor clamp to hold it, I used the coil that came with the electronic dizzy.

Pertronix makes a kit that eliminates the breaker points. They have one for the Minor listed on their site. I put a kit in my Datsun 1200 and the cost was $69 USD.

I would have to say only minimally as it does eliminate point drift. The dwell remains constant and never needs setting, so it's advantage is really that it is "set it and forget it".
I also purchased their coil (which was also very inexpensive) in a 3-ohm version, so that eliminated the need for a ballast resistor.
They do claim it's better, but my 1200 is a bone stock daily commuter car, so I don't drive it hard enough to realize any performance gains.
