Hi Folks,
I have been lurking and enjoying your site here for a little while now. I registered the other day, and Frosty sniffed me out and sent a nice private message welcoming me. I live on the West Coast of Southern California in a city called Huntington Beach, which is appx 40 miles south of Los Angeles.
I am a Morris LCV nut, and a few years ago stumbled upon an actual British GPO Van that I bought. I ended up contacting Russell Harvey, and he wrote an article on it for Minor Monthly. The article about it is here if you're interested: http://home.earthlink.net/~duncanm/vanart.htm (Warning: it's a big download) Unfortunately, I was laid off my job at the time, and that van is gone.
I just purchased another van that seems to have been in the Arizona desert since new, and it looks to be a very nice example without too much rust. I won't have it home until July 19th, but I am looking forward to getting started on it. The master cylinder is frozen and the loom is a disaster, but I was able to drive it up and down the owner's private airplane landing strip! (There's a lot of room in the desert)
I don't know why the left taillight is missing, and the custom rear bumper isn't quite to my liking, but any LCV is hard to come by in the States, so I think I got fairly lucky.
I'm not too keen on leaving the van all original, and I have gotten a lot of ideas from here. (70's and 80's Datsun were sold here in the millions) I am also looking into the possibility a Nissan SR20DE swap. I haven't seen that motor in a Morris yet, and I don't quite understand why. We have no restrictions or inspections of cars made prior to 1976, so the field is wide open here for modifications.
I hope you'll let a Yank hang out here a bit, and please note that I don't own a "Bumper Dumper" (Yes, only in America)
Mark (Duncan)

Actually, I had the good fortune to have a week's visit in NSW, and grew rather fond of the larakins.
I have always wanted to visit again, but the plane ride is brutally long.
Both '37 thru '40 Fords and Chevrolets (gangster-era) make great hot rods.
