Afternoon all,

Just dropping by to write my first post on this forum. It looks like a great little community here so I'm looking foreword to learning a lot.

Now... a bit about me... Not long ago I bought myself my first Morris; a 2-door off Ebay (some of you may have seen it). I doubt it will be a purist's delight but it's a great little starting block for tinkering with!

The car itself drive's and runs great. The paintwork, sadly, although it has been done at some time in it's life, looks like it's been sitting out in the sun for the last 10 years in areas. Something to tend to when the time is right.

The bootlid's bogged up pretty badly and the bonnet has a small crack so if anyone knows where I can source these parts in SA, that would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a couple of pic's of the old girl:

Thanks for reading! Feel free to reply with any comments/criticisms.

Regards,
Dan

Hey, that's nice - I really like it! Hope you got a good deal! Very Happy

Where is the battery situated? And have you thought of a name yet?

Best of luck with it - you'll find that everyone on here is really nice and helpful, and patient with newbie questions!

You might be pleased to know that there are a few of us newbies here, so just relax and enjoy the company of your fellow Morryphiles. And the good part about the long-timers is that they are friendly keen to help.

I saw your car on ebay and I thought it looked pretty sharp. I think it was described as a hot-rod (!) It must photograph better than it looks in person because the paintwork looks good in the photos.

From memory, it has escort running gear--is that right?

I hope it brings you a lot of pleasure.

Welcome again Dan .
Good advice to join a Club I have been a member of MMCC of NSW some 17 years, even before I had a car.
On the subject of cracks in the bonnett. If you are talking about small cracks running up each side of the Badge this is fairly common.
To prevent weld 8mm mild steel rod inside lip at least 30cm each side of centre ,I prefer to run mine right accross.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

The battery is in the boot along with the fuel filler. Apparently it's either a 1.3 or 1.6L Ford Escort engine (I need to do some research to confirm) and 4 speed box (it will need a 5 speed at some stage), with a rebuilt Major diff. So far the name is just "Morry" Eye Rolls

Blacky: Funny because I was tossing up between mine and yours when I was looking!

ChrisInAdelaide: How do I find info. on the Adelaide Morris Minor Club?

John Ballard: Thanks for the tip, that's exactly where the split is. Good to know it's not un-common.

Here's a few extra pics:

Don: No idea to be honest. I spoke to the previous owner last night and he didn't know either. More to look into I guess...

Paul M: I did a search but there's no one by that username on here?
