Anyone know if it's possible to have a MM on Club Plates in Victoria if the MM has a Datsan motor in it instead of a Morris motor.
We have been told it can't be done and one club in particular wouldn't accept it.
Can anyone through any light on this??

I am not in Vic but as I understand it as long as the engine is "engineered" has the correct paperwork and you hold a current RWC the club should pass it, as Vic roads will

Club Plates in NSW would not allow an engine swap to another make or the same make it must have the engine it was built with. I think you will find Victoria is the sams Yellow Sedan Blue Ute

I read the vic rules and they specifically mention the car must comply with VS18 - and VS18 allows engine swaps, ergo they should be allowed

To get club plates you need to be in a club.
If you are in a club, ask the club register.
If you are not in a club you will need to call one or two and advise what you are planing to do, they will let you know if they will accept you car in the club to access the scheme for club plates.
VIC do a permit scheme for modified vehicles but you may need to look at joining a Street rod club to access it, again you need to advise what you are doing so the club can help you out.

We have a HR Holden here in my local club on club plates . Yellow Sedan
At a recent display it was spotted and reported by another Holden owner
Our club was sent a letter to remove the car from club plates as it had 15inch wheels and a five speed box.
Letter and action was followed up.
To me there are to many restrictions on how you can use your car on club plates.

Just had a look at the R.T.A NSW website.

It states. Cars must be as close to original as possible ,with NO alterations except saftey features. Red Sedan Blue Ute

Also the application form must be signed by the authorised Club Member
usually Club Plate Registar

In one way, Canberra is quite strict in relation to mods allowed but in other ways they are quite liberal.

Take Cecil for example. My car as it stands complies with all requirements for ACT CRS except for one. EFI.

So the engine, gbox, brakes inc pendulum pedals, steering column, Diff, exhaust, seatbelts, seats, swaybar lights and others are all acceptable.

So yes NSW is more strict than ACT

I have decided that my number plate, EFI and my freedom to drive the car where and when I choose is more important than concessional rego.

When I get the traveller on the road I will probably register the traveller over summer and cecil over the winter as we have the privilege of registering our cars for 3, 6, or 12 months and as long as we don't allow the rego to expire for more than a 12 month period we simply pay the money when we want to register the car and away we go.
