It maybe worth talking to one of the big smash repair places, we just had Jens Suzuki Grand Vitara resprayed at a local panel shop, 10yrs old the paint was thin and chalky, they removed all glass, bumpers, trim, painted car and replaced grill and badges and it was just over $4k with GST, and they give a 10 yr guarantee

Git that thanks. A painter looking for a job as a vehicle painter came to Adelaide looking for some work. Total magician.

He hired a booth, had the car rubbed down and painted black in 5 days. Payment was 10 cases of beer. Expensive beer, yet less than a paint job.
Guy loved his beer.

Despite all his qualifications and experience as a painter for many years he could not find a job,

It has been a long time since I began this project. Yet now there is light at the end of the tunnel. Here are a few photos of where I am up to.

The van has been repainted gloss black with a flat black in the engine bay.
The red 1275 is well set off by the Weber 45 carburetor.
Wiring has posed a huge problem. I even emailed ESM for some assistance.
There response was " Take a photograph of the old wiring before you take it out". Good advice.
However the old wiring went years ago. There are some on the internet which can be vaguely understood with a magnifying glass.
Nevertheless I carried on and from trial and error there is now a semblance of an organised system.

Recent changes to how Regency Park check cars under the "new" system have me perplexed.
Now, instead of checking the parts of the car which have been changed they check the entire car. I wonder how much that will cost me.
With this in mind (as mine is already registered cars) I would never have considered being honest. I would have just driven it.
Another bone of contention is if your car has been checked in Victoria, it will not be acceptable in South Australia. A bit of a kick in the teeth for those in Victoria.

My advice is to get a brand new loom...or make one from scratch, which is something I will be doing soon

My loom is a dogs breakfast as it has been changed over the years. Once you get rid of the regulator and run an alternator you end up with spare wires and they get used for other things and in the end you dont know whats what

Also gives you a chance to have nice new connectors as well.

Thanks MorryStu, I have bought a new loom and will just have fun working it out. The tail lights and Speedo lights are easy. I will take it from there. I bought a hammer just in case something doesn't fit.

Lucas, the "Prince of darkness" will sometimes succumb to swearing and threats with a very large blunt object

I became totally bemused by the silly loom I decided to go a different way.
Keeping the basic loom and changing a "few" wires I have made an act of defiance.
I bought and placed in a 323 column. This has enabled me to put in LED wiring and lighting for the entire car. Now, I have brilliant lights a humongous, then added a reversing light, rear camera and taillights which defy anyone they come from a Morris.

I even put a light in the back of the van, no need for one in the cabin now.
I would recommend the LED lights and wiring for any Morris.
