Well done,
I was watching that car on eBay, it looks to be in great nic.
I think that model is the best look, I love the old cheesegrater grille.

I just hope "your cat doesn't require a cartilage operation"... lol

Hope to see lots more pictures once you have it home.

Cheers,
Leigh.

I was very suprised with the condition of the car - i.e the chassis and floor - engine ran smoothly with it's twin carbs
and interior is great - just missing the door pulls

Twin Carbs ? I thought it was a side valve ..

Door pulls are easy to get from the UK sellers...

Looking at the photos on eBay, it still is a sidevalve so it may have a Monaro conversion fitted Very Happy . It doesn't have the original air filter so it's hard to tell from the photo.

Am I right in thinking that the Monaro conversion is pretty rare and makes a big difference to power. Or am I confusing that with the Mazengarb Conversion.
Too many "M" words... Eye Rolls

Here is a link to some info on the Mazengarb Conversion on our Clubs website. That I manage.

It provides some interesting reading.

Interesting twin SU set up using the later angled SUs so I'm guessing it's a fabricated manifold.

I reckon I paid around $76 each for a couple of 165 70x14 from Jax in Canberra. They're on Major rims. When I got Blackie it had 175X14s on 3-1/2 standard pizza cutters, very dodgey. I don't know how tyre firms get away with it. Having tyres that match the rim size better makes all the difference.

or any ideas what i should check re overheating - i know the car has been of the road for 10 years . but other than overheating drives very well

There's no fan blades on the generator?

Does it overheat all the time or just in traffic?
If all the time, then the radiator & waterways might need a good flush.
If just in traffic, then you need a fan of some sort.

should be a 2 bladed fan connected to the generator other wise it works on the therm-siphon effect and runs near the boiling point, well mine did many years ago and if oyu where caught in stop start traffic it would stop due to vapor lock, let it cool down and away you went again

Hi Andrew I have been away for a while, you have a real beauty there.

Yes there should be fan blades on the generator.

The Twin carbies look like a home made job with what I think are extractors, a nice set up.

The grill you have ia a rare one as normally the centre grill piece
is a one piece pressed metal one, not a 2 piece chjrome insert one.

Your car looks a real treat.

Please just let me know if I can help you.

Will you be at RACQ day on this Sunday?

Oli
