well it was a pleasure to meet everyone at the RACQ Motorfeast yesterday - nice to learn more about the sidevalve engine - i am now not using my car due to the lack of the fan on the generator - but have contacted the last owner and there is one there for me - so i have to go collect it now. but can not do that till the end of the month . so am going to order top n bottom hoses and thermostat and do it all in one go.

Well i got the fan - and it is now fitted , it had the wrong fan belt on it which was too big so when the dynamo was extended it was hitting the side of the rad - so they took the fan off -- HOW DUMB.

So one problem fixed and two more arise

1) the bottom hose where it mounts the enigine - is broken and leaks

2) one of the bolts for the theromostat is worn and will not tighten

so will now need these

oh yeah does anyone have a boot lock with key ? the mm type with the screws on the bottom on the outside .

Many thanks

Andrew

For your bung thread you can helicoil it. repco or the like sell them. Your boot lock should be able to rekey it for not much money. We have an old guy here in Cairns "real school - he's in his 80's or 90's" has done a few locks for me less than $20

Hi there, your Morry looks great! Inside looks tops to.
Have you overcome the heating problem?
Any probs registering it? I have just purchased one from interstate and not sure of the procedure. I assume an RWC and then head off to Dept of Transport and do a new rego form. i have my own plates.

Not sure about overheating cure as yet due to needing more bits - it is frustrating after getting it road worthy and all which was not that hard at all. But this is the joy of classic motoring - Just can not wait to get back behing the wheel of the moggy

Mouse Milk, it will get any rusted bolt out http://www.mousemilk.com/ if you have a welder after mouse milk, weld a piece of steel on it to turn it. if not cut or file flats onto it and use a shifter

Re: oh yeah does anyone have a boot lock with key ?

My local Mister Fixit has the best key skills I have ever seen. He can make a key to suit any lock. He has done many for me. I took him a locked petrol cap a week or so ago and he made keys to suit it.
I mentioned your problem to him yesterday and he told me he most likely already has the key you need in stock, all he needs is the number. He can make a Morry key from the number even if you don't have a key.
He has done many Morris keys keys for me and they have all been perfect.
If you cant find the number which is normally on the barrel you can send the entire thing to him and he will post it back to you with key's that work retaining the original barrel and using the original key style.
I have never seen so many keys in all my life and I have only seen a smidgen of what he has, he has vast stock on hand. This guy is a specialists in rare keys.
He does plenty of work via the net and posts keys all over Aus. Noel is reliable and honest, I he can't do it then it likely cant be done.

His name is Noel Nealon Email info@misterfixit.net.au
or just phone him on 03 9887 8138 or Fax 03 9886 6232
Tell him Leigh from Vermont South sent you. He will look after you.

I have no affiliation with Noel apart from his good work. This is not an add.

Might be worth making this a sticky Frosty, or moving it a more appropriate place...

That was bad luck. You missed a great day. How about fitting a mechanical pump? Feed back seems to say they are more reliable.
