Can anyone explain to me why I have to be a financial member of a Morris or Morris Minor car club to enter the Rally?

I believe that this was decided at the very first Nationals and hasnt been changed since and it makes it fair on every one I could be proven wrong
but that's what I think happened

My issue is that I live 400km from my nearest Morris or Morris Minor car club! I don't see why I should be excluded as I'm not a member of a club which is not relevant to my situation. I also don't see any logic in my becoming an associate member of a club simply to be able to enter the Rally.
I don't see how this is fair to all! I'm also aware that I am not the only one in this situation.
A National Rally should be all about the cars, not the Clubs!
Just my opinion!

Thank you to the Rally secretary for a prompt response to my enquiries. A solution may be at hand!

Hi Greg
when the national's where first started they where called
Morris Minor Car Clubs of Australia national rally
so this and the need for public liability insurance is why you need to be a member of a Morris Minor car Club
We have heard this argument many times and until the club's change it then it will stay
sorry if this does not suit you but there is a lot of people in the same boat

Maybe you could shop around, since Moving I am possibly a similar distance to the club that I am a member of. Which I feel is a rather reasonably priced club to be a member of. I once was a member of a club that refunded the entry to the nationals for members that represented that club. Bargain in my opinon.

I have been a Club Member for about 20 years and I live 500klms from the Sydney Club and have never been to a meeting. It is well worth being in a Club just for their Magazine and other help.
Since we had a few cars out here in Central West NSW (spread over thousands of square kilometers) the Club has opened up a local region /branch and we have 18 members now.
Joimn a WA club you will not regret it.
