Hi Clive,

Apparently there was a bit of grinding and adjustment done by the guy that installed it, for the same reasons apprently that you have mentioned.

Funny, you mentioned that there was a bit of squealing from the belt after the conversion. I hadn't driven the Morrie for about 3 weeks and when I started the engine after a few goes, (it's connected to a battery charger) there was a squeal, but the engine ran OK and no further noises.

However, no further noises occurred when I started it up and went for a long run on Sunday after again having the Morrie sitting idle for a week.

By the way, can anyone tell me what the size of the fan belt is, as I usually have a couple of spares handy just in case.

My dear wife, bless her heart, disposed of the cardboard sleeve that showed the measurements of the belt that I had sitting on the seat waiting for me to get a couple of spares next time I passed Repco.
(She has a rule, that if you haven't used anything in the last 10 minutes....it gets tossed!!! Mad )

on the fan belt its self it will be marked ie:A42 which means "A" section 42" the best place to buy a replacement belt is a industrial belt supplier [a lot cheaper]

Thanks Russ. I'll have a closer look at the belt. I couldn't see anything that was obvious.

Mal,

The belt squealing problem was before I modified the rear alternator bracket. Once I had done that, no more squealing or chewed fan belts.

Regards,

Clive

Been off the air for a couple of weeks and just catching up. Glad to hear everything is ok Mal. Don't hesitate to give me a call if any problems arise in the future.

Regards, Bob.
