This is my 195(?) Morris Minor 1000 that I recently purchased.
Have wanted one for a long time and finally the moons aligned.
The limited information from the previous owner is that it is a 56 model, originally from Victoria, has a cortina rear diff, disc brake conversion up front and a toyota 5 speed gearbox. The 948cc motor is not the original (the number on the block doesn't match the plate on the firewall, but is only a slightly later number) and has been upgraded with an alternator and electronic ignition. Also has 4x108 13 inch wheels (I think from an escort).
My internet research has me questioning whether it is actually a 56 model. The compliance plate says the type is "FB51". Which I believe stands for F=Morris Minor, B=2 Door Saloon, 5=RHD CKD (not really sure what this means - export kit?), 1=Synthetic (also unsure what this means).
Also the Car No is 7 610 489 XXXXX which I think means it is either a late 58 or early 59 given the 7 indicates a 59 model?
The original colour was "Murlong Grey 3" which it is still painted on the inside. Presumably the whole show got a respray when the engine was changed over (the engine bay has been painted cream also).
The trafficator is there on the drivers side, but not the passenger side (accident/repair maybe?), and the indicators have been retrofitted front and rear (and need to go/be replaced with something less offensive!).
My aim is to get it on the road for 2nd car duties. Starts, runs and stops.
Few little things to tidy up, a full service and change out of all fluids and hopefully be ready for the road. Can't wait to get it going.

Yep. (Well, I am 90% confident it does - right hand side of bottom of block below the carby?)
Is there something I should be looking out for?

Put the car number up and we will soon date your car, it should match the one stamped into the firewall passenger side.
I pretty sure the new Minor 1000 were released very late 1956 in the UK however Australia did not have them till early 1957 as they were CKD>

Car number (on plate on the firewall next to the fuse box) is 7 610 489 05349.

Hi Chad
Two door cars with the number 7/ are all 1959 models , first one in January 1959 started with the number 7/610447/ 05307 your number 05349 is only 42 cars later so perhaps built mid to late January 1959, this was the year courtesy switches were fitted to the doors and the horn button was moved to the centre of the steering wheel.
The number 05349 should be stamped in the engine bay .firewall on the passenger side
CKD stands for completely knocked down, and that is how Morris minors were exported to countries like Australia, however we continually supplying a lot of our own parts including mechanical like motors, gearboxes and suspensions till they were totally built here yours would be mostly Aussie if not all..

They came to Australia in smaller crates than that. The body was welded together out here IIRC (2 piece firewall for example).

Hi,in its recent past life this car came from Ferntree Gully in Victoria,it had an elderly owner who was an Aircraft mechanic in is younger days, long retired now,I believe he did the modifications. I looked at this car a couple of times, thinking about buying it,was on the Market for 3k but I had reservations about the clutch and the throw out bearing and rust behind the guards so decided not to buy it. Anyway, hope you are enjoying it.
