Really great to see another Ute being rebuilt. The chassis looks good and having just done a chassis I now how much work it needs to look like yours.
I painted mine with a chassis black POR 15 (I think) but alas after sitting on the apron of my shed for a few weeks undercover the paint has gone flat and dull.
I have since found out the chassis paints are not UV stabilised
Just about to remove wheels diff and springs on mine for a repaint.
Good news I have finished the cab with two new floors and sills and one B post.

Hi mate what was your ute like before you pulled it down, it looks to be in good shape on the trailer.

Hi , yes it is solid the photo shows the work we did on it 37 years ago both sides rust protected back then and still in tact now . I believe it is one of the last assembled in Australia, Regulator is stamped 8/63 and it has the 1098 donk and rib gearbox.

There's an even rarer car in the background, I hope you kept that one too!

I am just about to do the same with my ute. Its even the same colour

Depending on how much you want to spend, I would recommend getting the cab & doors stripped of paint and rust by Redistrip

Quoted me about $1,500 for cab & doors. Gets all the rust out of the hidden cavities you cant get to, taking it back to straight metal which you can then treat.

https://www.redistrip.com.au/

You WONT get a job as good for that price and you end up with a completely striped panel, you wont ever get a job as good by doing by hand in the shed

While your at it, redo ALL your brake lines. try http://brakehose.com.au/.
Bob is a great bloke and will help you out

Jumping out of 3rd is often due to excessive endfloat caused by #90 breaking up (2nd/3rd gear thrust washer, towards top RH corner of photo):

Any decent brand will be fine but try to stick to the one brand all the way through just in case there's a slight incompatibility issue. Unlikely but its best to play it safe when there's a lot of labour involved.
