Always up for a Morry show, but where did this come from and why??
All profits to a charity that's great especially if it is BEYOND BLUE my favourite.'
But why Parkes it is a great town close for me, but I don't think there are 6 Morries within 300 klms of here a lot of travel for some.
I see Dale Robinson & Darren Goff are running it good on them but why???
Asking $30 payment from the participants, why not entry fee from the public attending, I presume it is open to them.
Parkes has a great car club with a lot of members and their own car museum and host many visiting car clubs. But their President a long time resident and member knew nothing of this event till he saw it it in a Morris Minor Club magazine.
Incidentally the said President owns two Minors a sedan & a traveller and is a MMCC of NSW member.
Hmmmmm

What is wrong with taking an event to a country town like Parkes?
So the president didn't know, he should be more than delighted for the revenue it will bring to all the small businesses in town and maybe some into his museum.
As the entry form reads its not a club event but a gathering of Morries from wherever they come from with profits going to a charity and it sounds like Beyond Blue is one of them, God knows how well they will appreciate that.

The negativity between both forums is unbelievable!!

We are here for the good of the cars and not to be throwing grenades over the fence. I note the website for the event has been fiddled with along with some of the script.

Come on guys lets be men and take control of matters better than this.

Ron

Nothing wrong with taking this event to Parkes or anywhere else for that matter.
No offence meant to anyone or Parkes as a venue just asking why.
As far as contacting the local club it could be beneficial to the promotion and success of the day. Could also be called courtesy.
The other point is what if there is another event on that week end.
BTW It is not His town or museum it belongs to all in the town.
Parkes has a good reputation for running and promoting all types of events just look at the "Elvis Festival"

Please try to read my posts as they are written no offence or negativity was offers at all.
I am not in favour of participants paying an entry fee, but happy to donate to a worthwhile charity I think I made that clear.
Simply asked why. Great it is on Saturday as country people have church and sport on Sundays.

Info re October Show'n'Shine Parkes .....from OzMorris Site

Robbo wrote:
This needs to be put on MDU please if anyone can. Facts only.
1 Brian Condon, Terry Cullen Clarke, Gary Dowsley, Darren Goff and myself and that is spelt Robertson are the organisers of the event.
2 The idea came about because NO CLUB wanted to host a Rally.
3 The whinging and whining that goes on at Rallies is painful
4 We thought of a show and shine get together to put a bit of fun back into the movement.
5 Parkes like other towns could do with the revenue.
6 As it is NOT a club event we don't have to check in with anyone.
7 At nationals the public have never been charged for entry so why now?????????
8 $30.00 entry is cheap with the balance going to local charity on the day.Everyone gets a goody bag and free tea and coffee all day for everyone.
9 The peoples choice awards and there are ten will be picked by wives that attend and only by the ladies.
10 John there is nothing to fear with your hmmmmm??? and as I emailed you to find out some charity names, Younglife was one you told me about and NOW you want to bag what we are trying to achieve by bringing some unity and a good weekend away for Morry lovers....
11.$30.00 entry, do people think you can hire the showground and buy tea and coffee etc etc with fresh air.
12 All I've have to say about this event. It will be a great couple of days away. Robbo

Please all open your eyes and read my original post. And stop reading into it what you feel.
I BAGGED NO ONE OR PLACE simply asked a few questions.
Is that wrong to try and get the information?????
Certainly not the way to encourage entrants. Most of us are just hearing about it now and would like to know some of the answers that are just being spelt out now .Like some of the above.
Good luck with it anyway.

I am happy to put my posts with my honest ideas and feelings on any forum.

It was a bit of a flop with only 32 cars

the 2018 version has been cancelled/postponed.
