More progress, I had a brilliant retired gentleman auto electrician who really knows his stuff, come around and complete the wiring, with the exception of the blinkers, he also repaired my regulator box and fixed the insulators around the horn mounting bracket, and put right an error, (gulp) that I had installed.
When I ordered the wiring harness, back in 1997 apparently, upon investigation, I got it with the extra addition of blinkers on the front, semaphores to work constant, and the stop/tail lights to flash like on a commercial vehicle. All this is with the aid of 4 extra relays wired into the loom, but alas no wiring diagram. So I will have to skecth out what wires I have and then ring the company, that was recently sold, and see if they can help me.
Next is the exhaust, and a fiddle with the engine.
it will be finished SOON, SOON, VERY SOON!

I looked up the old reciept from when I bought it and it will be one month shy of 17 years from go to whoe!

Congratulations Oli
I am having so much trouble making progress with my projects, I now understand what a huge accomplishment it is to get a project to completion. And I have seen what a high standard you achieve.
Fantastic work.
Cheers
Don
PS. Did you get those major drums?

Hi Oli,
Your car looks superb, soo much hard work and time has paid off.
I hope you all have a great time at Ormiston display day.
I think you might just be the centre of attention, wish I could be there to see it.
It is a credit to you mate.
Leigh

Hi Oli,
I am a bit into old clocks and I have had a few old 240V Smiths clocks converted to use a AA battery. It is worth doing. It is a simple job with the old Morrie clock.
If you change your mind, sell it to me...................
Cheers,
Leigh

I would like tyo say that my Tourer is finished and running....BUT I can't.
Yes it is finished, but i still have not got the motor running.
I have had many distractions in the past months with family health issues.
I have a mate coming over on Saturday and maybe we can sort it out.
The two main problems I think are that the distributor drive is out
one maybe two teeth, and the carbies are flooding.
If the dizzy is out, I think we will pull the engine out and while we are
at it check out the valve adjustments as well and these are a
bugger to check and adjust whilst the engine is in situ, especially
with extractors in the way.
the good news is that I have got the stuck valve moving.
If the engine does have to come out I think I will give the
engine a nice coat of Gloss Black paint.
Wish me luck!

Juat a little note that I noticed that
November 2011 marks 17 years of working on this car!
I don't know if that is perserverance or stupidity!

Oli, I've got a two door in the shed I have had for about as long as I have had the shed, (about 12 years) and it is less finished now than when I got it, I reckon I'll be giving you a run on your 17yrs before that one is finished. I have done my ute, a couple of cars and am now working on mazzy, so it is just priorities

Yep, 10 and a half years so far on my Ute 'Clockwork' I have periods of not touching it and periods of non stop work on it. When playing with it stops being fun, I find something else to do, then I come back to it.

well, like grant69 i had my panel van for around 12 years and it was less finished than when i bought it. i sold the van to make way for the Nomad as it was WAY less work on the Morris Nomad than the panel van.

IT LIVES....................!
With help help of my Morrie mate Neville,
we sorted out the timing.
We were Clockwise instead of ANTI - clockwise
on the dizzy cap, 180 Deg out on the timing plus,
when we could not get the thing to start,
just for something to do, because we had
tried everything else, I reversed the order
of the plug leads, and BINGO! Away she went!
After 15 years plus!
NOW, the only problem is that it is reving way too
high on idle, at around 1600rpm, we have adjusted
the air/fuel mixture and that bought the revs down
a touch and then when we retarded the spark it got
very close to correct idle, but it was retarded
so much I think it would be undrivable.
Has anybody got any ideas?
One step forward and one step BACK!
